What to Expect from your Session

A new you on the horizon

What to Expect from your Body Counseling Session.

The Change that you may feel from a session of Body Counseling can be subtle but may have profound effect. As your body begins to release its protective connective tissues, greater movement and range of motion will be achieved. There is often a change in sensation as blood flow returns to the area the body may sigh deeply to help let go of the tension that has been released.

Healing Touch
When we lay our hands upon you it is with great care and with the utmost respect & humility. We only do so with your explicit and implicit permission and trust. When we do so, we do so to listen, to feel and to connect. This connection is the foundation for our work together, and it’s success.

The prelude to care
As we begin our work we will stay at the surface and not discuss your concerns. We will first assess your body for tension, with specific attention given to each of the transverse fascial diaphragms as well as assess the fluidity of the 5 major cranial bone pairs.

Assessment
It is our intention to assess your physical & energetic body prior to hearing of your story & concerns. This way we can attune to the greatest points of tension & degeneration in your body.

We assess for tension by listening, feeling and looking for the status of your tissues & fascia. This tension is the key to your healing as its presence is a bi-product of fear or trauma. Whether the trauma is physical, cellular, psychological or emotional it has effects on our tissues and systems.

Memory and the Bi-Products of Fear
Sometimes cellular, sometime somatic, and sometimes mental, fear causes a retreat from function in order to invest energy into protection. The net effect is the buildup of limitation & dysfunction. Yet, fear is a powerful force and is often necessary for our survival. The goal of care to to assist in normalizing the bodies response to fear and releasing the excess protection in exchange for a return to normal functional processing. The process helps to dispel the effects of past trauma while still honoring the bodies efforts, and needs for protection.

Goals of Therapy
As such the goal of therapy is to bring the attention to mind to the manifestation / or residual manifestation of its fear. And whilst attending to the fear offering unconditional support, regard, compassion, respect and love for the mind and its predicament. Perhaps, even, with some confrontation of the minds binding and limiting beliefs attained through the initial trauma or in relationship to the fear. Always with understanding, compassion and patience. Always with respect.

As a result of this approach to care, the body is empowered to find its own way through and out of its binds. The process is an unfolding, an unwinding, a subtle release of the manifestation of fear in our tissue. The process involves a subtle but profound change of mind. It usually is experienced as a training, a way of shoring up your skills, your knowledge and your resources in preparation for change. Once enough intention, compassion, understanding and energy build with healing intent the process happens instantaneously and of its own accord. For some it will feel profoundly significant, for others the change is more subtle and can only be noticed through a witnessing of your changed approach to circumstances in your life. But for every one who commits their intention toward their healing, a process begins to unfold and inevitably the change will occur or the need for change will become undeniably apparent.

I welcome you to engage in this process with patience, humility and tenderness. Together we can find a way to help you release from the bonds of past trauma, to live more freely and to embark on the growth of your soul towards greater health and vitality. I honor your intent to heal and appreciate the effort that it has taken to bring you to this point in your process.
